Very rare first account of sport in South Africa and Rhodesia.Includes a slip of paper written and signed by Frank Cannock stating that his quarter mile cycling record still stands. As a child he witnessed the Ninth Kaffir War, later he participated on the 1891 trek into Mashonaland, during the 1890s he became the champion cyclist with the famous Wanderers Sports Club in Johannesburg, then as Dr. Jameson approached Johannesburg he was selected because of his cycling prowess to carry messages for the ZARPs/Transvaal forces encircling the conspirators, putting his cycle to one side he made the first motor-car journey in South Africa from Durban to Johannesburg and on to Cape Town.
